A vibrant and flavorful Bang Bang Shrimp Pasta combining crispy fried shrimp with a creamy, spicy sauce tossed with al dente spaghetti, perfect for a satisfying lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

For the Pasta:

  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 1 teaspoon salt

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

For the Bang Bang Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2–3 tablespoons sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)

For Garnish:

  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain the pasta while reserving 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water. Set the pasta aside.
  2. Prepare the Shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season them with salt and pepper. Coat each shrimp evenly with cornstarch. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry the shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until they are golden and crispy. Transfer the shrimp to paper towels to drain excess oil.
  3. Make the Bang Bang Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey until smooth. Adjust the amount of sriracha to your desired level of spiciness.
  4. Combine: Return the cooked pasta to the skillet over low heat. Pour the prepared Bang Bang sauce over the pasta and toss well to coat everything evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add some of the reserved pasta water a little at a time to thin it out. Gently fold in most of the crispy shrimp, reserving some for garnish.
  5. Serve: Plate the sauced pasta and top with the remaining shrimp. Garnish with sliced green onions and sprinkle red pepper flakes on top for extra heat if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Using cornstarch for coating the shrimp gives a lighter, crispier texture than flour.
  • Reserve pasta water to help thin the sauce and help it cling to the noodles.
  • For milder spice, reduce the sriracha amount or omit red pepper flakes.
  • You can substitute mayonnaise with vegan mayo to make it dairy-free.
  • This dish is best served fresh to maintain the shrimp’s crispiness.
