A refreshing and easy-to-make Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso combining the boldness of espresso with the sweetness of brown sugar and the creaminess of oat milk, shaken over ice for a perfectly chilled and flavorful coffee drink.

Ingredients

Espresso Mixture

  • 4 espresso shots (4 oz / 120 ml)
  • 2–3 tsp light brown sugar or coconut sugar (adjust sweetness to your preference)
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup ice cubes (for shaking)

For Serving

  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) unsweetened oat milk or barista oat milk creamer
  • ½ cup ice cubes
  • Dash of cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Espresso Mixture: In a cocktail shaker or a tightly sealed jar, combine the 4 espresso shots, 2–3 teaspoons of light brown sugar or coconut sugar, 1 cup of ice cubes, and ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
  2. Shake Vigorously: Seal the shaker or jar tightly and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds. This chills the espresso while thoroughly mixing the sugar and cinnamon, creating a frothy and flavorful base.
  3. Fill the Serving Glass: Fill a glass with ½ cup of fresh ice cubes. Adjust the amount of ice based on your preference for strength and chill.
  4. Pour the Shaken Espresso: Strain or pour the shaken espresso mixture over the ice in the serving glass.
  5. Add Oat Milk: Slowly pour in the 1/3 cup of unsweetened oat milk or barista oat milk creamer, layering it over the espresso mixture for a creamy texture.
  6. Garnish and Stir: Sprinkle a dash of cinnamon on top for extra flavor, then give the drink a gentle stir to evenly distribute the flavors before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of brown sugar or coconut sugar to suit your desired sweetness.
  • Use barista-style oat milk for a creamier texture and frothier result.
  • If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, use a tightly sealed jar and shake vigorously.
  • For a stronger coffee flavor, reduce the amount of ice used for serving.
  • Serve immediately for the best temperature and flavor.
