Ingredients

Oreos and Cream Cheese

  • 22 regular Oreo cookies
  • 22 Red Velvet Oreo cookies
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature, divided

Candy Coatings and Decorations

  • 10 oz red candy melts, divided
  • 10 oz dark green candy melts, divided
  • 10 oz white candy melts, divided
  • White sparkly sanding sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Parchment Paper: Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to prevent sticking during chilling and coating.
  2. Process Oreos: Pulse the 22 regular Oreo cookies in a food processor until finely ground and transfer the crumbs to a bowl. Repeat this process separately with the 22 Red Velvet Oreo cookies and place the crumbs in another bowl.
  3. Mix Regular Oreo Balls: In a medium mixing bowl, blend half of the cream cheese (4 oz) until smooth. Add the regular Oreo crumbs to the cream cheese and mix thoroughly until combined.
  4. Mix Red Velvet Oreo Balls: Blend the remaining cream cheese (4 oz) until smooth in a separate bowl. Add the Red Velvet Oreo crumbs and mix well to combine.
  5. Form Oreo Cubes: Using a 1.5-inch cookie scoop, form evenly sized balls from each mixture and then shape them into cubes with your hands. Place each cube onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
  6. Chill the Oreo Balls: Refrigerate the shaped cubes on the baking sheet for 2 hours to let them firm up, making them easier to dip and decorate.
  7. Melt Candy Melts for Bows: Melt the desired color candy melts (red, dark green, or white) in a microwave-safe bowl by heating in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each until fully melted and smooth. Pour the melted candy into silicone bow molds and refrigerate until the bows are set.
  8. Melt Candy Melts for Dipping: Melt the candy melts again using the same microwave method for dipping the truffles. Keep the colors separate if desired for variety.
  9. Dip Oreo Cubes: Dip each chilled Oreo cube into the melted candy melts using a fork, gently tapping off excess coating. Place the dipped cubes back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  10. Add Sprinkles and Sanding Sugar: Before the coating sets, sprinkle white sparkly sanding sugar or other desired sprinkles on top to add a festive sparkle.
  11. Repeat for All Truffles: Continue coating all Oreo cubes, alternating candy melt colors as desired for a colorful assortment.
  12. Drizzle Decoration: Melt the remaining candy melts and place the smooth melted chocolate into a piping bag. Drizzle over the dipped truffles to create a ribbon or ribbon-like effect.
  13. Add Candy Bows: Once the drizzle sets slightly, carefully place the mini candy bows on top of the drizzled truffles as festive decoration.
  14. Final Setting: Allow all decorated Oreo balls to set completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator before serving to ensure the coating and decorations are firm.

Notes

  • Be sure to soften the cream cheese to room temperature for easier mixing and smoother texture.
  • Using silicone molds for bows creates detailed decorations that elevate presentation.
  • Chilling the Oreo balls before dipping helps maintain their shape and makes dipping easier.
  • You can substitute candy melts with colored white chocolate melts as preferred.
  • Store finished Oreo balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • For extra holiday flair, add edible glitter or festive sprinkles before the candy coating sets.
