This classic Dirt Cake recipe features a luscious Oreo crust layered with a creamy vanilla pudding and cream cheese filling, topped with whipped cream and Oreo crumbs. Perfect as a no-bake dessert that’s easy to prepare and impresses with its rich, indulgent flavors and fun presentation.

Ingredients

Oreo Crust

  • 1 (14.3-oz.) package Oreos
  • 4 Tbsp. butter, melted

Filling

  • 1 (3.4-oz) box instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 1/2 cups cold milk
  • 1 (8-oz.) block cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oreo Crust: Finely crush the Oreos using a food processor. Reserve ¾ cup of the crushed Oreos for garnish, then transfer the remaining Oreo crumbs to a large bowl. Add the melted butter and stir until the mixture begins to hold together. Press this firmly into an even layer in a 9”x9” baking dish to form the crust.
  2. Make Pudding: In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until the mixture thickens. Refrigerate for 10 minutes to allow it to set and firm up.
  3. Mix Cream Cheese & Sugar: Using a hand mixer, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar in a large bowl until completely smooth and free of lumps.
  4. Whip Cream: In a separate large bowl, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, creating homemade whipped cream.
  5. Combine Filling: Gently fold the chilled pudding into the cream cheese mixture, followed by folding in the whipped cream until well combined but not over-mixed. Pour this creamy filling evenly over the Oreo crust and smooth the top with an offset spatula. Sprinkle the reserved crushed Oreos on top as garnish.
  6. Chill: Refrigerate the assembled dirt cake for at least 3 hours or overnight to allow it to set completely and develop its flavors.

Notes

  • For best texture, use cold milk when mixing the pudding.
  • Make sure cream cheese is softened to avoid lumps in the filling.
  • Press the Oreo crust firmly to avoid a crumbly base.
  • Chill the dirt cake overnight for the best flavor and firmness.
  • This dessert is best served chilled and kept refrigerated until ready to serve.
