These Gooey Mozzarella Pepperoni Croissant Rolls are a deliciously easy snack or appetizer, combining flaky crescent roll dough with melty mozzarella cheese and spicy pepperoni. Ready in just 30 minutes, they’re perfect for quick entertaining or a comforting treat.

Ingredients

For the Rolls

  • 1 package Crescent Roll Dough (pre-made dough)
  • 8 oz Mozzarella Cheese (fresh slices or shredded)
  • 24 slices Pepperoni (3 slices per roll)
  • 1 Egg (optional for egg wash)
  • 2 tbsp Butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning (fresh herbs can be substituted)
  • 1 cup Marinara Sauce (optional for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s at the perfect temperature for baking the croissant rolls evenly.
  2. Prepare the Dough: Open the crescent roll dough package and gently separate the dough into individual triangles without tearing.
  3. Add Cheese and Pepperoni: Place a generous slice or handful of mozzarella cheese at the wide end of each dough triangle, then layer 3 slices of pepperoni on top of the cheese.
  4. Roll the Croissants: Starting from the wide end, tightly roll up each triangle, making sure to tuck in the fillings so they don’t spill out during baking.
  5. Apply Egg Wash: If desired, beat the egg and brush it lightly over the tops of the rolled croissants to give them a beautiful golden finish once baked.
  6. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between each to allow for expansion.
  7. Brush with Butter and Herbs: Melt the butter and mix in Italian seasoning; then brush this savory mixture over the tops of the croissant rolls to add flavor and moisture.
  8. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes or until the croissants are puffed up and golden brown.
  9. Cool and Serve: Allow the rolls to cool for about 3 minutes before serving. Serve warm with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • You can substitute fresh herbs like basil or oregano for the Italian seasoning for a fresh flavor twist.
  • Use shredded mozzarella for quicker melting or fresh slices for a creamier texture inside.
  • For a crispier crust, brush the rolls with egg wash before baking and with seasoned butter after baking.
  • Serve immediately for the best gooey texture; leftovers can be reheated in the oven to restore crispiness.
  • Marinara sauce is optional but highly recommended as a flavorful dip to complement the pepperoni rolls.
