A delicious and savory recipe featuring tender baby potatoes wrapped in crispy turkey bacon, seasoned with garlic and onion powder, and grilled to perfection. This dish makes a perfect appetizer or side that combines smoky bacon flavor with the comforting texture of potatoes.

Ingredients

Potatoes

  • 2 pounds baby potatoes

Bacon Wrap

  • 4 strips turkey bacon

Seasoning & Oil

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium heat, around 350°F to 400°F, ensuring it is properly heated for even cooking.
  2. Prepare the Potatoes: Wash the baby potatoes thoroughly and cut them into halves or quarters depending on size to ensure they cook evenly and fit well when wrapped with bacon.
  3. Season the Potatoes: In a large bowl, toss the cut potatoes with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and freshly ground black pepper until they are evenly coated with the seasoning and oil.
  4. Wrap with Turkey Bacon: Take each potato piece and carefully wrap it with a strip or portion of turkey bacon. Use toothpicks to secure the bacon if needed to keep it wrapped tightly around the potatoes during grilling.
  5. Grill the Wrapped Potatoes: Place the bacon-wrapped potatoes on the preheated grill. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure the bacon crisps evenly and the potatoes become tender all over.
  6. Serve: Remove the potatoes from the grill once the bacon is crispy and the potatoes are soft inside. Let them cool slightly before serving to allow flavors to settle and to avoid burns.

Notes

  • Choose baby potatoes of uniform size for even cooking.
  • If you prefer extra crispy bacon, turn the wrapped potatoes more frequently on the grill.
  • To make the dish spicier, add a pinch of smoked paprika or cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix.
  • Ensure the grill is clean to prevent sticking and burning.
  • Use a meat thermometer to confirm the internal temperature of the pork bacon is safe if not using pre-cooked turkey bacon.
