Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup flour (90g)
  • 1/4 cup chocolate protein powder (30g)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder (10g)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter or any nut or seed butter (120g)
  • 1/3 cup water (80g)
  • 1/4 cup yogurt or mashed banana (60g)
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup or honey (60g)

Toppings

  • Frosting or additional ingredients as desired

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan and Oven: Grease a donut pan or mini muffin pan for donut holes thoroughly to prevent sticking. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) so it’s ready for baking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until everything is evenly combined. This ensures even rising and flavor throughout the donuts.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Stir in the peanut butter, water, yogurt or mashed banana, and maple syrup or honey. Mix thoroughly to form a smooth, consistent batter without lumps.
  4. Fill the Pan: Evenly spoon or pour the batter into the prepared donut or mini muffin pan, smoothing the tops so they bake evenly.
  5. Bake the Donuts: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 8 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out mostly clean indicating the donuts are cooked through.
  6. Cool and Remove: Let the donuts cool completely in the pan before carefully running a knife along the edges. This makes removal easier and helps maintain their shape.
  7. Add Toppings and Serve: Once cooled, frost or add your favorite toppings as desired. Enjoy these protein-packed, deliciously fluffy donuts any time of day.

Notes

  • You can substitute yogurt with mashed banana for a dairy-free alternative.
  • Use any nut or seed butter in place of peanut butter according to your preference or dietary restrictions.
  • These donuts are best eaten fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • To make the recipe vegan, use maple syrup or agave nectar instead of honey and ensure the protein powder is plant-based.
  • For added flavor, consider sprinkling chopped nuts or chocolate chips on top before baking.
