Delight in these festive Strawberry Shortcake Candy Apples, combining crisp Granny Smith apples with a luscious white chocolate coating, crushed Golden Oreos, crunchy freeze-dried strawberries, and a vibrant strawberry candy drizzle. A perfect handheld treat that balances tart and sweet flavors with a fun, crunchy texture.

Ingredients

Apples

  • 6 Granny Smith apples (washed & dried)
  • 6 wooden sticks or decorative straws

Coating and Toppings

  • 3 cups white chocolate melting wafers (or white almond bark)
  • ½ cup strawberry-flavored candy melts (for drizzle)
  • 1 cup Golden Oreo cookies (crushed into fine crumbs)
  • 1 cup freeze-dried strawberries (crushed into crumbs)
  • Fresh strawberry slices (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples. Insert sticks into the top of each washed and dried Granny Smith apple, ensuring the apples are completely dry to allow the coating to adhere properly.
  2. Melt the white chocolate. Place the white chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 20–30 second intervals, stirring thoroughly between each until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
  3. Coat the apples with white chocolate. Dip each apple into the melted white chocolate, turning to coat evenly. Let the excess chocolate drip off the apple to avoid clumps.
  4. Apply the Oreo and strawberry crumb coating. Immediately dip the bottom half of each chocolate-coated apple into the mixture of crushed Golden Oreos and freeze-dried strawberries to create a crunchy layered effect.
  5. Set the coated apples. Place the apples on parchment paper to allow the chocolate coating and crumbs to set properly.
  6. Melt and drizzle strawberry candy melts. Melt the strawberry-flavored candy melts similarly in the microwave. Drizzle over the coated apples in a striped design for added flavor and visual appeal.
  7. Add fresh strawberry garnish (optional). If desired, gently press fresh strawberry slices onto the apple surface before the drizzle hardens for a fresh and decorative touch.
  8. Allow to harden completely. Let the apples sit at room temperature or refrigerate briefly until the coatings have fully hardened.
  9. Serve promptly. Enjoy these candy apples within 1–2 days for optimal freshness and texture.

Notes

  • Ensure the apples are completely dry before inserting sticks to help coatings adhere better.
  • Use parchment paper or a silicone mat to prevent sticking while the chocolate hardens.
  • Crush the Oreo cookies and freeze-dried strawberries finely for an even coating.
  • You can substitute wooden sticks with decorative straws for a fun look.
  • Store coated apples in a cool, dry place or refrigerator to maintain freshness.
  • Strawberry candy melts can be found at specialty baking stores or online.
