These Oreo Balls, also known as Oreo Truffles, are a rich and indulgent no-bake treat combining crushed Oreos and cream cheese, coated in smooth melted chocolate. Perfect for parties, holidays, or anytime you crave a decadent and easy dessert.

Ingredients

Base

  • 36 regular Oreo cookies (14.3oz / 405g), not Double-Stuf
  • 8 ounces (226g) full-fat brick cream cheese, softened to room temperature

Coating

  • 12 ounces (339g) semi-sweet or white chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil or coconut oil

Optional Garnish

  • Sprinkles
  • Oreo crumbs
  • Additional melted chocolate

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oreo mixture: Place the Oreos in a food processor and pulse until finely crushed into crumbs. Alternatively, you can place them in a ziplock bag and crush with a rolling pin. Transfer the crumbs to a large mixing bowl.
  2. Mix with cream cheese: Add the softened cream cheese to the crushed Oreos. Stir together using a spoon or your hands until well combined and forming a uniform dough-like consistency.
  3. Form balls: Using a tablespoon or small cookie scoop, roll the mixture into 1-inch diameter balls. Place them onto a parchment-lined baking sheet or tray. Refrigerate for about 1 hour or until firm.
  4. Melt the chocolate coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chopped chocolate with the vegetable or coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly between each until smooth and fully melted.
  5. Coat the Oreo balls: Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each chilled Oreo ball into the melted chocolate, fully coating it. Allow excess chocolate to drip off before placing back onto the parchment paper.
  6. Add garnishes: Sprinkle with optional sprinkles, Oreo crumbs, or drizzle additional melted chocolate over the coated balls for decoration before the chocolate sets.
  7. Chill to set: Refrigerate the coated Oreo balls for at least 30 minutes until the chocolate hardens and the truffles are firm.
  8. Serve and store: Serve chilled or at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Notes

  • Use regular Oreo cookies for best texture; Double-Stuf can make the mixture too soft.
  • Allow cream cheese to soften to room temperature for easier mixing.
  • Vegetable or coconut oil helps create a smooth chocolate coating and easier dipping.
  • These Oreo balls can be customized with different types of chocolate or garnishes.
  • Store in the refrigerator to maintain freshness and firmness.
